Formula Ford Australia Team Media Releases!

Australian Formula Ford Management has welcomed the recently announced date change for the V8 Supercar event at Winton Motor Raceway.

The shift in the schedule will see Winton move from the sixth round of the championship to the eighth and final event of the season.

Australian Formula Ford Category Manager Margaret Hardy says that the late change to the calendar has some advantages for competitors.

"Winton's a great track for Formula Fords to race on, and by moving to November from August we should hopefully encounter more favourable weather conditions," Hardy said.

"Another by-product of the move is that the penultimate round at Bathurst will maintain the attention it deserves, while the Winton round will grow in stature by being the season decider.

"Also, teams will appreciate the extra space in the calendar, easing a busy period in the middle of the year."

The date change for the Winton round will not affect its position as an eligible round for the Chairman's Cup, which offers special incentives to state level competitors stepping up to national Championship racing.

The Australian Formula Ford Championship continues on May 18-20 at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in support of the V8 Supercars Championship.
